Write To Senator Brewer & Representative Donelan Today
Thursday, May 3, 2007
Dear Friends of AOTV:
We are asking you to contact Senator Brewer and Representative Donelan to oppose Senate Bill 1975/House Bill 3385. The bill would take cable franchising authority away from local govenments and give this power to the state. This legislation would be harmful to consumers, because it would:
* Take away local negotiating power, forcing a cookie-cutter statewide approach to cable licensing that will not reflect the unique needs of local communities;
* Allow phone companies to provide cable services only where they want, which will translate into less competition and fewer choices for consumers like us down the road;
* Weaken the state's commitment to the proven and time-honored principle of local control over local rights of way;
* Eliminate capital equipment costs for Public, Educational and Government Access;
* Provide unrealistic restrictions for providing PEG Access, and loopholes to not pay fees and not provide PEG Access to its subscribers.
You may write a letter directly to Senator Brewer and Representative Donelan or you can click on the link below. In a few keystrokes you can make a difference.
Thank you for your continued support.
